who lead the clinical departments at London Health Sciences Centre and/or St.
Joseph's Health Care London.

Role of the Department Chair/Chief
Most clinical departments are led by a Chair/chief who holds a joint appointment
to the London hospitals and Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. In some
departments, there is a leadership model with two or more individuals fulfilling
the responsibilities of the Chair and Chief of the department.
The Chair/Chief has the following broad responsibilities:
To influence, promote and support the University's and Hospitals' strategic
plans
To develop a departmental strategy to carry out the tripartite missions
of patient care, teaching and research
To oversee, promote and improve the quality of patient care, teaching, education
and research performed by members of the University and Hospital(s) department
To develop and foster cooperative relationships among the department members
and with other university and Hospital(s) departments and staff
To ensure that all department members understand and comply with the relevant
legislation, By-Laws, Rules and Regulations, policies and procedures and ethical
guidelines of the University and Hospitals) in which they function
