Subcommittee Chair Selection
The appointment of a Subcommittee Chair is a responsibility of the Medical Advisory Committee. Appointments are for a two-year term (exception is the LHSC P&T Committee) and are renewable.
The LHSC and SJHC MAC Executives constitute the Nominating Committee and recommend the Subcommittee Chair(s) to the LHSC/SJHC MACs.
At least thirty days before the June meeting of the MACs, the Nominating Committee requests nominations for the open MAC Subcommittee Chair positions. The request goes to all MAC members and relevant subcommittee members.
The Nominating Committee reviews and recommends a candidate(s) to the MAC for approval. The Committee Chair(s) are approved at the June meeting of the Medical Advisory Committees and will assume office on September 1st.
Subcommittee Members Selection
The MAC also selects members of all Subcommittees. Appointments are for a maximum period of three years and are renewable once.
Professional Staff membership on the MAC Subcommittees will be comprised of Active or Modified Active staff. Professional Staff membership on the Medical Advisory Subcommittees rotate so that no more than 40% of Professional Staff members change in any given year.
In circumstances where membership is required due to administrative responsibilities (i.e., Director Perioperative Services, Director of Health Records, Chief of a Medical Department, etc.) the term of office is unlimited.
Membership on the MAC Subcommittees includes other allied health professionals, as appropriate, to assist in the effective functioning of the committee.
